Do you happen to know your county? By name and location?
As for me,I am a proud host of kericho county.That is the main reason why I am going to take you this article so that you may more about my county and even get to visit my county.
As you know , Kericho county is one of the 47 counties in Kenya.It is found in the former Rift valley province.The name Kericho originated in the pre-colonial era.There was a great medicine man in kericho town whose name was Kipkerich.Therefore,the area was associated with kerichek ( kipsigis name for medicine) in that when someone was sick ,he would say I am going to see kipkerich.Later the name underwent phonetic shift to become Kericho.
The county Government of Kericho is headed by the Governor prof.H.E Paul Chepkwony and his deputy H.E Lily Ngok.The senator is Aaron cheruiyot and the women representative is Florence Bore.The county is made of six sub-counties, Bureti,Ainamoi,Kipkelion east , Kipkelion West,Belgut and Soin.It has 30 constituencies
Kericho is metropolitan with many tribes.The main tribe is kipsigis and kipsigis language is the most dominant.However, Kiswahili and English remain the language usually used in trade in government.The other common languages around are, kisii,Kikuyu and luo.
The main economic activity in Kericho is Agriculture.It entails cash crop farming;tea and coffee,dairy farming, floriculture, maize farming.So many agricultural system was introduced during the colonial era by the whites who had occupied the Kipsigis highlands.Today it's one of the leading expoters of these produce

As a member of Kericho county who lives in Masarian ,Belgut sub county.I am pleased and happy about my county ,since it's weather and climate is very conducive and favourable for my farming.
